The 82nd Golden Globes are set to launch the 2025 awards season this weekend, with Emilia Pérez and The Bear expected to shine. Wicked has captured Hollywood’s heart, while The Substance has surprisingly earned a comedy nomination. Selena Gomez stands out with nominations in both film and TV categories for her roles in Emilia Pérez and Only Murders in the Building.
In the television realm, The Bear has once again dominated with five nominations. However, notable snubs include Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor missing out in the Challengers wave, despite Zendaya and the film receiving nods. Saoirse Ronan was also overlooked for her performances in Blitz and The Outrun, both strong contenders this awards season.
The 82nd Annual Golden Globes will be broadcast live on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on CBS and will stream live on Paramount+ for those with the SHOWTIME tier.
The Golden Globes categorize Best Picture nominees into Drama, Comedy or Musical, Animated, and Non-English Language. The Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category, introduced last year, returns for 2025.
