Ja’Marr Chase may not be heading to the playoffs, but he has joined an elite group of wide receivers by winning the triple crown. The Cincinnati Bengals star finished the season with 1,708 receiving yards, 17 touchdowns, and 117 receptions, all career-highs. He averaged 100.5 yards per game and was targeted 175 times.

“It says I’m off to a tremendous start,” Chase said on the NFL Network. “There’s more to be done, but I’m doing good so far.”

Chase is the first receiver to achieve this feat since Cooper Kupp in 2021. Other receivers who have won the triple crown include Steve Smith (2005), Sterling Sharpe (1992), Jerry Rice (1990), and Lance Alworth (1966). At 24, Chase is the youngest player in NFL history to win the triple crown.

Chase is also the first Bengals player to lead the league in all three categories. He led Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown by eight catches and held a four-touchdown lead over St. Brown and Washington Commanders star Terry McLaurin. Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson was closest in receiving yards but was 133 yards behind before Week 18.

Chase narrowly missed breaking Carl Pickens’ franchise record for most receiving touchdowns in a single season, needing two in the Bengals’ 19-17 win over the Steelers but finishing with one. Despite the Bengals’ 9-8 record and missing the playoffs for the second straight year, Chase’s performance has been outstanding.

This achievement comes after Chase’s contract dispute with the team in the fall. He rejoined the team for Week 1 without a new long-term deal and is set to make $21.8 million next year, the option year of his rookie contract. Based on his performance, Chase is poised to become the highest-paid wide receiver in the league when he secures a new deal.
